Psychedelic Preparation
Preparing for something as potentially intense as a psychedelic journey can be a daunting task. Through psychedelic preparation, you will be guided through the key components preceding a psychedelic experience:
- Intentions – Here you will get clear about why you’re engaging with a psychedelic, and what you hope to gain from the experience.
- Set – Set is shorthand for mindset, or your inner world, alongside your physical well-being. There are practical steps you can take to ensure mental and physical preparedness for a journey.
- Setting – Setting is the external environment within which a journey takes place. While much of this is outside of your control, you can educate yourself and learn how to vet facilitators and retreat centers.
In addition to guiding you through these steps, Daniel will happily explore any questions you may have about psychedelics or the psychedelic experience. You will also be provided with practical tools to assist you during your journey, such as basic breath work.
Psychedelic Integration
Following a psychedelic journey, there can often be more questions than answers! Altered states of consciousness are by their nature novel experiences, with the potential to see and experience incomprehensible things. Even in the most mundane of journeys, strong emotions can surface. There are lessons to be gleaned from these experiences which, when applied, have the potential to transform a person’s life. While integrating is a long-term process that will be unique to each person, there are a few key components that will apply to anyone:
- Intentions – Were your intentions for your experiences met? If not, why might that be?
- Needs – Get clear about what you really need. Are there any needs that are not being met for you?
- Values – What do you truly care about? Make sure that you are speaking to your values, not what other people think you should care about. Are you living in alignment with these values? Why or why not?
- Goals – What are your goals, and are you actively working towards achieving them?
The above list is a very simple sample of the types of topics that will be explored in integration sessions.
Transformational Integration
All psychedelic integration is transformational integration at its core. One does not even need to have a psychedelic experience to integrate and transform. Many aspects of life can be the focus of transformational integration, such as careers, relationships, and health. The same framework of needs, values, and goals outlined above applies to integrating non-psychedelic experiences:
- Needs – Get clear about what you really need. Are there any needs that are not being met for you?
- Values – What do you truly care about? Make sure that you are speaking to your values, not what other people think you should care about. Are you living in alignment with these values? Why or why not?
- Goals – What are your goals, and are you actively working towards achieving them?
The primary goal of integration is transformation. While experiences make memories, it’s integrating them that changes one’s life. When you can look back and see how far you’ve come, you’ll know that you’ve integrated.
